Big wheels in front of Karlsruhe Palace for “Heimattage”
When you have been in Karlsruhe, I’m sure you have seen them: The two big wheels directly in front of the Karlsruhe Palace, side by side – imposing and visible from far away. Since end of April, they have been continuously rotating.
The gigantic bicycle, formed of two big wheels, is one of the highlights of the “Heimattage Baden-Württemberg” – Heritage Days Baden-Württemberg. Together with the Karlsruhe Palace in the background, this gives a sight that more than meets all criteria of a postcard idyll.
And, of course, the two big wheels offer a great view of Karlsruhe for all passengers. This makes the giant bicycle a great landmark for the anniversary “200 years of bicycle” celebrated in Karlsruhe under the motto “Ganz schön Drais!”.
25.000 visitors of the giant bicycle were welcomed!
The two big wheels in front of the Karlsruhe castle attract the masses
The gigantic bicycle in front of the Karlsruhe castle is a true public magnet. On Tuesday, 16 May 2017, already two weeks after the opening, the 25,000th visitor was welcomed. And he was even happy in two ways: he celebrated his 38th birthday together with his family. Oliver Forster from Karlsruhe took the chance on the sunny day to enjoy Karlsruhe from airy heights. He was surprised by Martin Wacker (chief organizer of Heimattage Baden-Württemberg & CEO of KEG Karlsruhe Event GmbH) and Klaus Hoffmann (CEO of KTG Karlsruhe Tourismus GmbH) with a gift package. Of course, Martin Wacker is very enthusiastic about the high interest of the people for the two big wheels.
Until Sunday, 28 May, the gigantic bicycle is in operation. Monday – Thursday from 4 p.m. till 9 p.m., Friday till Sunday from 12 a.m. till 9 p.m. One ride costs 5 €
